Hello,

I am a beginner to Tableau and was working on creating a dashboard. For one of my worksheets, I have an excel data set in which there is only one column with string values. I am not able to figure out which chart type would be the best fit for that data.

Can anyone please help.

Thanks.

    Hi

    Welcome to Tableau

A good way to learn is to load your data and then open a sheet and place the dimension on the rows and the count of the dimension on the detail shelf

see below - then open the Show Me and see the different types of chart that Tableau suggest can be made with the data - try some see what works and what doesn't

Clearly as you work with broader data sets there are more options

I would also suggest looking into the on-line training - the session of visual analytics would be good place to start
