I just started uisng Tableau.
I have a 180 million record registered voter file with 256 fields per record.
I need a simple spreadsheet type metric in Tableau. I have most of the work done but it seems as though I did it the hard way.
Top row will each of the fifty states and main left Column will contain each of the 256 file field names.
I only need "COUNTS" not distinct counts or anything more than basic counts (for now). I can email you my Tableau .TWB file and some sample data if it would help answer the queries below?
1) The data seems to default to 'distinct counts' and when I drag and drop do I really have to go to each of the 256 fields and change the MEASURE from distinct to count or is there a method to universally edit each field simultaneously and change the measure values?
2) How do I quickly scroll in the measure columns as it appears as though the two little arrows on the right are not quick at all with 256 fields?
3) Why do measures remain in distinct in the far left column even though I have edited them for the display to count only?
4) Is there a limit to the number of rows?
5) I want to change the order of the rows to match the actual records...how to do that is it grab and drop?
I have watched 3-4 training videos but maybe there is one dedicated to creating a simple spreadsheet as I describe?
Anybody out there want to earn some cash and set this up for me?---I got this far in an hour.
