Hi Tableau Experts,

I am having trouble publishing tableau contents to server using machines other than the server even though I am connected to the same domain within the company network. Every time I tried connecting to the tableau server using tableau desktop from machines other than the server, I am getting "Internet communication error: Failure when receiving data from the peer." I have tried 1) reinstalling tableau server, 2) ensuring tableau desktop and server both have the latest version, 3) Using AD and Local Authentication, 4) Actual IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the server, 5) Changing the ports, 6) Opening all ports under Windows Firewall. Does anyone have the same issue that I am experiencing? I suspect that it is the server that is blocking incoming traffic but it is confusing as all ports are opened both TCP and UDP under Windows Firewall. Also how do you resolve server address issue if the machine is using IPv6? Apparently it seems like this issue starts to happen when my company switched from using IPv4 to IPv6... Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

Kenny

    Hi Kenny,

The following table lists the ports that Tableau Server uses by default. All of these ports must be open for internal communication between processes:
