Hi all

I'm working on a map which unfortunately I can't share because the data is confidential. I have data from several organisations that work with schools, and have plotted the schools on a map (using custom geocoding for 'outcode plus 2' (in the UK)). I have coloured the points using the 'Organisation' dimension so that the colour shows which organisation works with the particular school.

The problem I have is where a school works with more than one organisation. At the moment the point will be coloured for the organisation that is highest on the list (alphabetically). I would ideally like a category for 'two organisations', 'three organisations' etc, although a single 'multiple organisations' category would also be ok.

I hope I have explained myself clearly enough - I find it difficult to search the Tableau forums as I am self-taught and often don't have the right 'Tableau vocabulary' to describe what I'm trying to do.

Many thanks!

Hmm... I thought you mentioned that you already have the points plotted on a map. So it is just a matter of changing the mark type to "Pie" in this case once you have the map. It doesn't matter whether you use Tableau's automatic geocoding or custom geocoding. You can then set the Color to be based on a dimension like Organization in your case, by adding that to the Color Shelf. You can also optionally add a measure to the Angle Shelf. There will now be a slice for every organization. This won't work too well if there are many (more than 3-4) organizations associated with one school. The alternate approach with a separate graph would work better in that case. Let me know if that helps.
