How do you find data that you want to analyse?

I've been wondering how some of you manage to get a large amount of data that seem hard to get.

Sometimes, say, I want to explore Facebook global user distribution, but I never know where to find reliable datasets. (I don't want to use statista.com because I think there must be a way to get data without paying anyone).

I also know that there are people use R or other programming languages to mine data, but it's rather complicated for me and time-consuming to learn them.

So, what is your favourite data finding tool (or way)?
