I find that I'm constantly out of memory when making dashboards. Is there a way that I can select that while I'm building the dashboards only 1000 rows get extracted? But when I publish, of course all rows get extracted?

Create an and specify the amount of rows.
Either remove the extract for publishing or regenerate it for all rows.
