Hi, I am new to Tableau and would like to seek some help on filtering of the worksheet. For example, I have 4 fields, "Date", "Product Name", "Country" and "Sales", where country is the manufacturing origin of the product. I have 2 charts where one is the Sales based on Country over time and there is a quick filter on the Country, and another chart for Sales based on Product Name over time similarly with a quick filter on Product name.
Would like to have both on a dashboard where filtering the sales based on country will limit the list of product names on the quick filter of the other chart. Is there a way to do this?
Hello Javen Lee,
Welcome to the Forums and to using Tableau.
The sort of filter described can be created quickly in Tableau. From within the dashboard view, select the filter from the primary view and then from the drop down menu that appears in the upper right corner of the Filter, select "Apply to Worksheets" . Specify that the worksheet containing the relevant field.
Then from the secondary view, set the filter to "show only relevant values". This is an option available from the drop down menu that appears in the upper right corner of the quick filter or when the filter is created.
filtering measures - relevant values help:
I've attached a sample workbook as well that demonstrates this in action.
