For some reason, I cannot get Tableau to sort the values on a hierarchy when expanded.
I have two dimensions set up as Marketing Channel (Affiliate, Organic, Adwords, Bing) and Source (site url). We have one Measure, the number of customers referred by that marketing channel through that site.
I want to sort the sites in each sub-category in order of most referred customers.
I have SUM(Number Customers) as Columns and Marketing Channel, Source as Rows.
I expanded out the hierarchy to show source urls, right click ed Source on the Row shelf, clicked Sort, chose Descending and Field Number Customers Sum.
However, when I do this, the sort that comes back seems totally random. It is a simple bar graph and it should show each bar in order from longest to shortest. This doesn't happen.
I can sort on the Marketing Channel higher level and it works.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, the data is pulled in to an extract file.
