Hi.

I am using an OLAP cube source and have a couple of questions regarding dates:

- Is there a way to aggregate a DD/MM/YYYY function so it will sum it up to Months, Quarters or Years?

- Can you apply a filter so that only the last 6 months of data are shown (but this continually updates as you gain another month's worth of data)?

Thanks so much!

    Hello Emily,

An option to potentially achieve the desired aggregation in Tableau Desktop would be to leverage calculated members which can be directly in Tableau Desktop.

+ How to Create a Calculated Member

+ MDX Function Reference (MDX) | Microsoft Docs

To achieve the relative date filter to display the last 6 months of data. I would review the following article on the creation of an MDX function.

+ Relative Date Filters With A Cube Data Source | Tableau Software

Additional information, I would review the product help section found here on cubes for more information on some of the restrictions that exist while working with a cube data source in Tableau Desktop. More information on Date and Times and cube data sources can be found here.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

    Byrne, Patrick
