I am new to Tableau. The option Geocoding is not an option under Map. I only see the options listed below. I am on Tableau Desktop Public Edition (10.3.2 (10300.17.0728.2252) 64-bit)
Background Maps

Map Legend
Map Layers
Map Options
Any ideas on how to get the Geocoding option?
Thanks.
Sandy
A few of things:
1) Tableau Public 10.4 was just released and they have vastly increased the number of out-of-the-box locations recognized by the software, particularly in the US. Before doing anything further with this, I'd suggest trying the new version.
2) If you still have problems, then you'll need to get latitude and longitude for all of your locations, put them into a data set, then load them into Tableau. If you name the fields Latitude and Longitude, Tableau should automatically recognize them. You will just need to add them to your row and column shelves and Tableau should do the rest.
3) If you need help with the geocoding, there are lots of APIs out there. I've used the Google geocoding API in the past and written about it here: Some Tableau Geocoding Tricks - Ken Flerlage: Analytics Architecture, Strategy, & Visualization
