A bit late to the party I know, but I'm on 2021.4.3 and am seeing this issue with a sunburst I've built based on a map - I've set my filters to not display the 'All' option and 'Only Relevant Values' so that it doesn't have to handle nulls, and that seems to have sorted it for me.
