I have a Tableau Prep plan that pulls in data from a text file with a wildcard filename(s) and stores to a table and it works great. However, if I have the plan open and then move a file out and put a newly named file in, I can't figure out how to get Prep to recognize it without closing the plan and re-opening it.
Specifically when I try to run it, I get an error that it can't find the file and it states to "Click Refresh in the top menu to update the files included in the input step...". However, when I click on the little refresh icon next to the play button that doesn't work. When I try to right click on the input step and click "Refresh" that also doesn't work.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!
You are welcome!
By 'load again' for the original files you mean you don't want to run the process because you don't want the rows to double as you have it set to add rows and not overwrite (or it takes a long time to run)?
In which case I will also suggest you consider using Tableau Prep's incremental refresh feature (which works while Tableau Prep is open) which may be perfect for you. You mentioned you rename the new files (incremental refresh doesn't need you to rename them)
