Case 1:
There is a Group on Tableau Server to which I have provided the below permissions -
At a Project Level (Project Leader Role)
At a Workbook Level (Especially denied some of the workbooks)
Now, I was expecting that this group user should not be able to access the denied workbooks but the user is still able to see the workbook. Is this expected?
Case 2:
There is a Group on Tableau Server to which I have provided the below permissions -
At a Project Level (Publisher and have Denied the Data Sources - View,Connect all are set to denied)
At the nested Project Level (Project Leader and have Denied the Data Sources - View,Connect all are set to denied)
Now, when this user goes in the project then user is still able to see the Data Sources. But, ideally this user should not see the Data Source as I have set the permissions to Denied on both the levels.
I am using Tableau Server Version: 2019.4
Can someone shed some light on how is the permissions getting set in Tableau Server?
Also, how can I hide the Data Sources if I want to give this user the role of Project Leader?
Yes, that is correct. You can think about it this way: Project Leader is an Administrator-level role for that project; Administrator roles have ALL permissions and cannot have those permissions modified/reduced.
