I would like to bulid a new background map using existing layers that I use and Create in GIS Soft - Mapinfo 12.
my final goal is to build the map infrastruction using GIS Tools and annimating\visualizing it in tableau.
the data types i would like to transfer to tableau are polygons,polylins and points using coordinates.
I'll Appreciate your help!

Another route could be to have Urban Mapping host and visualize your data--we do this for Tableau and custom map layers is right up our alley. We can accept MapInfo TAB, Esri SHP, WKT, addresses for geocoding, etc... This approach may not be as satisfying as doing it on your own, but I think it's a lot faster than Richard's (artful) hack.
