Hi,

I discovered Tableau recently, I would like to know if I can remove excel from my workflow.

For this reason I would like to know if it makes sense to produce a Income statement, based on an accounting extraction.

Because I don't see any easy way to link the results of columns or calculations together.

Tableau does not seem to be made for a table with several dependent lines.

Simple examples:

Total Income

Total expenses

Result = Income - expenses

While with Excel it is no problem.

Thanks

    testeur,

    You are correct.  Tableau is not intended to be a spreadsheet tool, but rather a data visualization tool.  So, for example, if you wanted to make a bar chart showing the Gross Profit from your income statement data, over the past several years, then Tableau would be a good solution for that.  On the other hand if you are actually calculating an income statement, from all of your transaction data, that's not a task for Tableau - that would be better accomplished in excel or some specialized software.  Remember that Excel is, often times, an input into Tableau - and therefore, one is not a replacement for the other - you need both.
