We can't seem to resolve the following issue.
We are running tabcmd on a server outside of the network on which tableau is sitting.
We are able to login with tabcmd and can even execute get commands as well as export on png. However the minute we try and execute an export for --fullpdf we get the following error:
Failed to create a VizQL session on the server
Looking through these forums comes up with the same answer - that we are using the wrong version of tabcmd (ie doesnt match the server) OR that we did not upgrade our environment variables after upgrade.
But we have checked and double checked and none of that is the issue.
The logs we are seeing on the Tableau side are also obscure as follows - what does google have to do with all of this???

The cherry on the top that is if tabcmd is run from WITHIN the same network as Tableau is sitting then the export of a pdf works.
But from outside we keep getting the error.
If anyone can offer some advice or guidance it would be greatly appreciated as we are very blocked.
Thank you
Hi there,
Hmm this looks strange to me. I wonder if something is timing out that gets you this error. Does it take significantly longer to try and generate the PDF externally vs. internally? One way test that would be to export a very simple workbook that takes no time to generate (both from inside the network and outside).
I'd also encourage you to open a Support Case | Tableau Software. Tableau's support team can take a closer look at your log files.
