    1) Tableau Server / Tableau Online - whichever you're using

    2) There is "revision history" on Tableau Server / Tableau Online as well, but I think it only goes back 10 or 20 versions and may not be adequate for what you're after

    3) With a lot of difficulty, I've done it before, but it's far better to use separate workbooks.

    4) I still wouldn't recommend it. For me there's too many Desktop features that aren't available in Web Authoring that I use all the time. But maybe I'm old fashioned, I like a file on my HDD that I can version control and backup myself. But I also do crazy version control - every time I save I change the filename and add the date and time afterwards, so it's not Sales.twbx it's Sales 202110201145.twbx it might look silly, but I can go back to every version of that workbook ever and that's important when I'm working with multiple clients.
