Urban Mapping - Map provider for Tableau

Greetings all!

 

I'm with Urban Mapping, the company that provides all things mapping-related in Tableau. We're excited to have been working with Tableau over the past few years, and am thrilled to say there are many good things in store. We've talked with many of you at Tableau events, through product management, your account managers, etc., but I wanted to sound the call a bit louder and see what functionality and data you would like to see in the future.

 

The three Tabelau basemap styles are hosted with Urban Mapping, and we plan to offer additional overlays, custom-themed basemaps and more. We'll be communicating more about this offering over the summer but knowing what you are interested in would be extremely helpful. A few ideas to spur some thought:

 

* Satellite imagery as a custom layer

* Demographic overlays for additional countries (which?)

* Postal code overlays for additional countries (which?)

* Telephone area code overlays for additional countries (which?)

* Custom overlays (eg, display my sales territories as a layer)

* Custom-themed basemap (Tableau map styles are great, but not branded YourCo)

* Geocoding for additional countries (which?)

    Hi null,

     

    You may want to have a look at the GADM.org file.  It has Admin 0, 1 and 2.  If you have ESRI, have a look at this null. If you want to see how to blend ESRI with a GADM shapefile as a background, have a look at this post. 

     

    If I have time, I'll knock this up as a Viz, and stick the ISO boundary labels on as well.

    Note: (GADM caveat) These data are freely available for academic and other non-commercial use. Redistribution, or commercial use, is not allowed without prior permission.  So if you need permission contact GADM.org , once you have that, I can give you the TDE.

     

    Perhaps urbanmapping.com has this level of detail as well.
