I frequently insert a download icon into my dashboards to allow users to download raw data associated with the dashboard they are viewing (as described here, among other places).
In one of the dashboards I'm hosting on my server, this arrangement was set up for a number of sheets and it recently ceased to work. I am able to still deploy this functionality in other dashboards hosted on the same server, and using similar filters. But I cannot figure out why that download function no longer works for this one dashboard. There is a significant amount of data being referenced by the dashboard, however having upgraded to tableau 2018 I don't believe that is the issue.
Have any other users used this functionality and identified specific cases in which it does not work?
Phil--
If you haven't done so already, I would suggest you open a support case with the team at Support Case | Tableau Software . If you could include a limited log set with an estimated time as to when you tried to DL from the dashboard that isn't functioning and an estimated time as to when you were able to DL from one that works, it would help a lot.
My first suspicion is that the DL is simply trying to pull too much data. There may be work going on in the background that just isn't finishing before you navigate away. You could test this by trying the DL before you leave for the night and just see if it finishes.
I hope this helps,
Dan
