Good Morning All,

I am working on a viz that compares the previous years financial amounts to the current year similar to the one that null built here - https://playfairdata.com/3-ways-to-use-tableau-in-the-flow/

https://playfairdata.com/3-ways-to-use-tableau-in-the-flow/

Here's the issue that I see and am I am not sure how to deal with so I am looking for some suggestions and I am sorry if this explanation is not as specific as it could be.

In my company, each month is broken down into two pay periods and the pay period is defined by a dimension called "Pay Period" so the data looks like this:

201901, 201902, 201903, 201904......

What I look for is to use this field more like a continuous date measure so that I can place this pill on columns and an amount measure to create a line graph over time.

My data set does have a transaction date but the dates don't correspond to the pay periods and this doesn't leave my viz at the level of detail that I am wanting which is biweekly instead of monthly.

I have included a spreadsheet so you can see the payperiods.

Thanks,

Scott

    Hi Scott,

You may want to simply use the [Pay Period Start] field

as your Date Dimension at the Week or Day (Exact Date) granularity.
