Hello! I am trying to overlay the two maps here: https://public.tableau.com/profile/publish/Map1_map/Dashboard1#!/publish-confirm. That is, I have tried, without success, to create a dual-axis map that shows both lines and polygons from the same data on the same map. I tried following the instructions here, but they didn't seem to work for my data, or I wasn't understanding something.

Mapping polygons and points together dual axis

Could anyone help me figure out if this would be possible? I tried to figure out how to filter just one of the dual axes (so that I could filter out polygons on one axis and lines on the other), but I couldn't get it to work (Work-arounds involving duplicating the data didn't work for me, either.).

    Hi guys,

Thinking about it further, I've come up with the idea

of breaking up Lines on the Poly view (and vice versa)

by using a special "Sub-Object" calculated Dimension.

    Suddenly, the artefacts arrived, namely,

Poly corners as distinct points on the Line view.

But hope they could be blended smoothly into the Canvas

by using both Line Size and Colour Transparency.

    Please find the attached.

Hope it could help a bit.

    Yours,

    Yuri
