i have one extract having static data for 2017. and another data source is updating on daily basis for 2018.
can i merged(union) both data sources which having same no. of columns in extract.?

My recommendation would be to perform a little up-front data prep. Tableau Prep, which should come with your Tableau Desktop license, allows the type of union you're looking for.
