To begin with, I am a newbie..this is just my second day of using Tableau.
I have been going through videos and blog posts of Tableau Zen Master Steve Wexler from Data Revelations on using Tableau for survey analysis.. But i am still confused on how to create Stacked Bars / Likert Values Combo in my case.
this is exactly what i am trying to create - http://www.datarevelations.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Likert8.png
The data is as below:
The weights i want to give are -
Excellent - 5
Good - 4
Average - 3
Poor - 2
Didnt Know - 1
This is how i compute it in excel
Say for The Yard, I Multiply 172x5 + 273x4+37x3+2x2+28x1 = 2095
and then divide it by 512 (the total number of responses)
which gives 4.09 as the score.
Similarly for The shed, library, talks , etc.
I am stuck here -
How should I go about creating the Approach Six – Stacked Bars / Likert Values Combo in http://www.datarevelations.com/the-likert-question-question.html.
I am really confused on how to do the calculations in Tableau as I am a beginner.
I would really appreciate help on this.
also find attached the excel data and workbook
I am sorry for the late reply, but thank you for the quick response !
it looks correct but could there be any method in which I dont have to reshape the data as you have done ?
Also how did u reshape the data ? manually through excel ?
I know its a lot to ask but i am a super newbie...
How do you create the calculation step by step ?
I know you have counted the number of 1's in each column and then multiplied the count x its respective weight (if excellent then x 5)
and then divided that weighted score by the total number of counts. But how do u make these calculations in Tableau and where do u insert the formula ?
Your help will be much appreciated
