I have multiple data sources which are connected via data blending relationships. The common field which connects it all is the 'Project Name'. In the primary data source the 'Project Name' is also within a hierarchy, with its 'Client Name'.
When the hierarchy is rolled up to the 'Client Name' level, errors occur and the connection between the blended data sources is lost. Does anyone know a way around this? Thought that was the function of the hierarchy.
(I have a .twb workbook where it is working, but using the older 2019 version and connected via an old MySQL database that we are decommissioning. The current setup, which I am struggling with, uses the same data sources, but via Matillion and then Snowflake. This is the last hurdle of the data migration and causing much frustration since we had it working before.)
Any advice would be appreciated.
@Werner Janse van Rensburg I wasn't able to reproduce the issue described with sample data. It would helpful to upload a sample workbook demonstrating the issue. Many solutions have to be customized to the structure of the data and the way the view is built. See instructions for creating a packaged workbook
A quick method to anonymize a workbook is to hide any fields containing sensitive information before the data source is extracted. Hidden fields are not included in the final extract.
One thought that does occur to me, is I've seen blending behavior where if the following happens
- Drag [Linking Field] into view
- Tableau automatically activates link (icon turns orange in secondary DS)
- Remove [Linking Field] from view
- Tableau automatically deactivates link (icon turns into the gray broken link icon)
(Sorry for the weird formatting, that's a limitation of the Salesforces platform) If that's the behavior you're seeing, then manually clicking the gray broken link icon to activate the link should resolve the issue for you.

Hope this helps :)
