Can someone explain to me why it is that when creating a data source by simply dragging a table from the schema to create a source, i.e. pulling int he entire table, Tableau transforms the column names to human readable, if you will, removing underscores and capitalizing words in name but when writing a custom query as "select *..." which yields the same data results, it keeps the actual column names? Doesn't make any sense.

We decided that if you wrote the custom SQL, you probably didn't want us cleaning up the names of the columns. I've definitely heard customers with different opinions, but not a strong indication that we should change this.
