I'm trying to follow lesson no.1 and when I create the HTTP connector the bottom part of my screen does not look like the one in the video and I don't know how to get to the screen he shows.

That's right, as you can see in the video screenshot the HTTP component is selected, so it's properties show up on the bottom. You just need to click on the icon. HTH.
