I see that this idea was merged into another idea that's been delivered, but I see no option for encrypting the standard Birthdate field with Shield. @Dave Hacker added an updated 2 years ago that isn't any help. Anyone have any updates or leads on this? Thank you!
One capability that will address the need for encryption of more data is Shield's Database Encryption (known as TLE or Tenant-Level Encryption in pilot). Forward looking statement: Database Encryption is expected to go GA later this year for Shield Platform Encryption customers using Hyperforce. Database Encryption gives the ability to encrypt the entire database, including the standard birthdate field, with a tenant-specific key that the customer controls.
You can read a little more about database encryption in the following places:
- This comparison article (see the Database encryption column)
- Many more details in the Shield PE architecture guide
Apologies for the delay here, we will be sending lots more communication (release notes, etc) as the feature is available for more customers but an update is long overdue. For now I have to include the caveat that Database Encryption hasn’t yet been deployed to all Hyperforce regions and instances.
