Hi!

I'm facing some issues while setting up an approval process, where the use case is:

Currently I'm aware that I can use the "manager" field when setting up the approval process, but the manager field doesn't seem to fetch the manager of the record creator but instead the manager of the submitter. One of the requirements are that the superusers should be able to support the end users with sending in records for approval, but it should still fetch the manager of the record creator.

Can anyone think of any workaround to this? I would love to be able to use a formula field or maybe there is some way I can create a custom look-up field of the record creators manager that I can use, but in that case, what option should I choose in the approval process approver determination setup?

Appreciate the help!

Kind Regards, Rebecca

    Hi Rebecca,

I had a similar requirement in my org. I used a custom lookup field to the User object. I used a record-triggered Flow to populate that field based on whoever you need (record creator, running user, or something custom)

Once that's populated, you can assign the record approver to the user in the lookup field instead of a designated user, queue, or manager.
