Looking for best practices on removing bot “page views” from lead scoring after we send nurture emails.
Bots are likely to do 2 things: they will give you an open email signal and they will click multiple links simultaneously. There are all different kinds of behaviors because there are many kinds of systems that operate in different ways. Some will do it basically at the same time as delivery, and there are browser based ones that will do it when a person interacts with the message. Subsequent emails might get an identical treatment, or it might only check links it had not seen before. All that said, there are some ways that you can try and identify users that are using security systems (such as hiding a link in your email that no human would click), but it's very difficult to know how many points to deduct for this behavior because the amount of points added are random. So "how" you treat people that are identified as using link scanners is up to you, but in general you should treat their scores as inherently untrustworthy.
