I have a project requirement on 2 custom objects with a shared "Department" attribute. I am trying to do 8 restriction rules on the department attribute on the user and custom object record. Does anyone have experience with a workaround to the 5 restriction rule limitation? Many of our Roles overlap these departments, but would be open to recategorizing them to match since we work in a mostly open environment where visibility is often controlled at the object/profile level.

@Michael Figari If you have to do restriction on the department level, I would advise to revisit your role hierarchy and see if you can redesign it. Sometimes when we get to restrictions on an object multiple times, it might be better to come up with a revised role hierarchy to prevent unwanted access.
