Should our Sales Reps be the ones creating an Advanced Forecast Set User in the front end and not the admin?
a. What is the best practice?
b. What is the part of Advanced Forecasting typically performed by a System Admin and which part is typically performed by an end user?
Note: We have not launched Manufacturing Cloud and we are only in discovery phase right now as I am taking trailheads to learn this cloud and want some general questions clarified. It would be great if someone could clarify the high level order sequence of an Advanced Forecast setup to the point of clarifying what is the data entry that a Sales Rep is meant do an where. So is step 1: Create the Forecast Set, Step 2: Configure the DPE, Step 3: ? (I see there's an object called Forecast Set User. What is that one for? And is it used by the admin or the sales rep?
The Salesforce manufacturing cloud's features like SA, Adv Acc forecasting are in the demand planning side of the supply chain.
The Salesforce ecosystem has two forecasts - one is used by Sales rep for forecasting the sales based on opportunity and its stages. The manufacturing cloud forecast is mainly to forecast inventory (basically customs demand in the coming future).
Now the forecast can be used in two perspectives - 1. Sales side and 2. Production side
On the sales side - forecasts will be used to check the performance like Planned vs forecast vs actuals and if there is a deviation then account manager can take action.
On the other hand, production side - forecast will be used as an input for generating the demand order. The sequence of activities in demand and supply planning are - Business Plan> Forecasting > Demand Order > Supply Plan > Purchase Order/Work Order > Delivery
