In Domain Management, I added our domain in Email Sending Domains & our site host added the Validation Key to our DNS settings.
- SPF shows as Default Verified
- Validation Status shows as Verified
- DomainKey shows as Error
So I copied the DomainKey from Expected DNS Entries & asked him to add it to our DNS settings. He asked me to confirm with Salesforce what settings are recommended.
Reading DNS configuration tips and tricks for Account Engagement, it looks like all he needs is the DomainKey that I sent to him.
I know nothing about DNS settings, so am I missing something else that he needs?
@Erica Denner, DNS settings are unique for each business. I had a client who had issues with the default DomainKey identifier of Pardot 200608._domainkey..... This was handled with lots of back-and-forth technical discussions with Pardot DNS engineers and client's IT architects by making some technical changes to align with Pardot's recommended settings. They also did not implement DomainKey Signing Policy as it would conflict with their DMARC setup. But, it did not have any impact on their email deliverability.
These requirements will differ so, if your IT personnel needs certain clarification on specific points for the DNS setup, it is better to raise a support case and get them in a call with your IT to get this moving.
Hope this helps. Cheers!
