Running into trouble with CRM Analytics Data Integration Basics

I'm on step 3, Extract Salesforce Data, and the steps that it's describing don't match what I'm seeing.

I'm supposed to create a new recipe, and choose "Connected Objects" when adding Input data,  but the drop-down reads "External Connected Objects", and when I select that no data is found. Has anyone else run into this? Thinking I might need to start over with a new playground. sigh...
