Is there an existing report or way to recreate the report that is behind the graph on the Pardot homepage, please? We would like to be able to work with prospect counts over a time period.

Anytime a prospect is created in pardot they enter a campaign and that is tied to Salesforce campaigns
So you can make a report like this in sales force for the exact same data
-rrport type campaigns with campaign members
-choose only campaigns that relate to pardot. Or on the lead and contact make sure they have pardot url is not empty. Either of these should ensure it is leads and contacts that are in pardot
-usr the Salesforce report chart functionality to make a line graph based on field "campaign entry date" which is same as prospect creation date
-filter based on campaign entry date to control dates
