Process for Managing Object Fields (Other than Field Dependencies)

I want to customize the layout of my objects, where if a specific selection is made from a picklist, then X field(s) will appear, no matter their field type.  (For example: If picklist option A is selected, then show X text field.)

This seems to be a limitation of Field Dependencies, where picklists can only define other picklists.  This also does not seem possible in Process Builder.

I am coming from Zoho CRM where this was a basic layout feature based on If/Then statements, so I am hoping that something similar is possible here.
