Our volunteers are required to sign a release which is valid for one year from the date of signing. How can I add that release to their contact info in such a way that I get a reminder a year later when it expires?

    This sounds like something that could be managed with a report-driven campaign process driven by a "release anniversary" field on the volunteer contact. Schedule a report with the appropriate filtering, subscribe to it with options set to not remind you unless the report catches something, and wait for the email from SF...?
