I am a member of the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore. Our club is involved in different events that require volunteers. One is Canada's Largest Ribfest, held every Labour Day Weekend - I used a different login when I set up our volunteer campaigns, jobs and shifts for this year's event. The domain that was set up for all of the Salesforce urls associated with this event (by someone else no longer with our club) is canadaslargestribfest.force.com

. Volunteers for Salesforce was invaluable in tracking and scheduling all of our volunteers for this event.

I am now in the process of setting up tracking and scheduling for another event - the Rotary Burlington Music Festival, the volunteers for which have been tracked and scheduled using spreadsheets. I would like to use Salesforce for this event too, but I want to set up a site that uses a domain name applicable to the music festival and NOT to Canada's Largest Ribfest.

I tried adding a domain (rotarymusicfest) in Salesforce but got an error, as follows. I'm not a developer and don't know how to fix this myself. The music festival has its own website which is

rotarymusicfest.org

.

Can I fix this and if so, how?

Error:

Salesforce.com can't validate the domain. The CNAME record may still be processing (which can take up to 24 hours), or the domain may not belong to you. Make sure the domain name rotarymusicfest uses rotarymusicfest.00de0000000adlpmau.live.siteforce.com

as its CNAME target and try again later.

Thanks for replying. - that links explains things quite well.

Since I will be entering all of the data for the volunteers this year, including scheduling their volunteer job shifts, I won't bother about changing the domain/url. I'll just be sending a lot more emails to them since they won't have access to their Personal Page. It would look a little odd if I send volunteers for the Music Festival to a url that includes "canadaslargestribfest".
