⚡️ Just a reminder that we will turn on ⚡️ Lightning Experience ⚡️ for all orgs starting in January 2020. ⚡️

What is the change?

Salesforce will turn on Lightning Experience on a rolling basis starting on January 7, 2020.

The “Turn on Lightning Experience” critical update will be activated for all orgs where the new interface isn’t already enabled. All orgs will be updated within 72 hours.

What changes do users see when the “Turn On Lightning Experience” critical update is activated?

Users with standard profiles, and users with custom profiles that have the Lightning Experience User permission enabled, will see the Switch to Lightning Experience link in Salesforce Classic. Every week, starting the Sunday after Lightning Experience is turned on, Lightning Experience-enabled users who are working in Salesforce Classic are automatically logged into Lightning Experience. Users can switch back to Salesforce Classic as needed.

Why is this change being made?

The future of the Salesforce user experience and platform is Lightning Experience. Moving forward, all our new innovations will be in Lightning Experience.

Switching to Lightning Experience benefits everyone, from business leaders and users to admins and IT teams. The new user interface will help to improve user efficiency and productivity, giving you the power of the Lightning Platform at your fingertips. Lightning Experience gives you the flexibility to align the user interface with your processes, to keep up with changes in your business, and to improve your company’s bottom line.

What action do I need to take?

We encourage admins to self-enable Lightning Experience before January so users can start benefiting as soon as possible. We provide a number of tools that automate and speed up the transition process, including the Lightning Experience Transition Assistant. You can also visit the Lightning Now Trailblazer Group to get answers from Lightning Experience experts.

Hi @Ann Ezzell I'm so glad you enjoyed the bootcamp! We loved having you. I'm excited to hear you are making progress.

You can prevent users from logging via the login.salesforce.com URL, or redirect users to your custom domain when they attempt to login that way. You can find the settings in Setup>My Domain. But once your users login during the week they will default to whatever experience they were using last (either Classic or Lightning.) On Sunday all users will login to Lightning Experience, regardless of how they logged in. Does that make sense?
