I want to change the level of security on our field 'VAT number'.
All users must have the possibility to create a new customer and fill in the field 'VAT Number', as this is a required field. Once this field has been filled in, it may not be editable afterwards, only readable.
When I work with Field Level Security, and I enable Read-only, then my users can't change the field, but neighter can they fill this field when creating a new customer.
How can I set this up correctly

Field Level Security controls the access to the field, if it's Read-Only then users will not be able to edit this. Locking fields after applying values seems not possible at the moment. This is a great idea to post at IdeaExchange https://ideas.salesforce.com/s/post to see if we can get it added to the product roadmap.
