How can I create A view on a custom object?

First steps is to create a Tab for the Student Object. This can be done under set up || Create || Tabs. Click New, then pick student Object. select any color for Tab. and define tba viisbility for required profiles. Make it Default ON.

And ensure your tab is saved in a particular app.

Then Open app from App launcher. You should be able to see the Tab. 

Click on the tab you have created.. on the top side corner you will see an option to create View (i suppose its "New view").

Click on it and you will see a page to define View Name and also define a filter.

There you can define the View filter to only show Males students (i assume you have a field to track it.. we have to select that field and pass the value).

Then define visibility of Views.. as public OR for whom this view should be seen. Click save.
