If I create a custom object that stores volunteer hours every time a person completes a shift (along with time and date as well as other data), is it possible to slice and dice that data into either summary reports or summary custom objects? For example, total hours worked by a volunteer in a certain timeframe, or who worked a particular shift. My first question is can it be done, and if so, what documentation will explain how to do it?

When you say person, are they a Contact record? and is each volunteer shift related to that contact?
