Having this problem with Preferred Email picklist also, where it's defaulting to "Personal." But, for what I'm doing, I only care about Preferred Phone right now. Thanks.
Thanks Harish. I figured it out. I forgot to makes sure that "--None--" was selected for the default on record type. I like it when the answers are easy like this to figure out, but also wish I would have checked for that sooner.
