Currently, I have a process working that automatically selects the Preferred Phone depending on which phone field the User populates. So, if the User types a phone number into Home Phone, "Home" is automatically selected in from the Preferred phone picklist. This only works when one phone field is populated.

 

I'd like to require the User to select a Preferred Phone when they populate more than one phone field. So, if the User types a phone number into Home Phone and Mobile Phone,  respectively, the User wouldn't be able to save the record until selecting either "Home" or "Mobile" from the Preferred Phone field.

 

I'm guessing I'll need to create a Validation Rule. But, I'm not sure what that the formula would look like.

    I'm using the custom contact picklist field (I believe). I think the issue now is that the Preferred Phone default is "Home." So, your VR is not firing as a result because the selection for the Preferred Phone Field automatically defaults to "Home." I'm not sure if it's possible to set that to "--none--" as this field is Managed.
