We're using the Enhanced Email along with the Gmail Chrome Extension to record/log email activity that is being sent to Salesforce.

This (https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=000313606&type=1&mode=1) help document states that emails will be created as email messages and tasks in Salesforce, but a few bullets down states that tasks will not be displayed on records that have Enhanced Email activated.

I'm finding this a bit confusing. When our users are logging emails using the extension, are a task and email message both created in Salesforce? I would rather use the task object because it's editable. I want to be able to build reports in sfdc that can show me things like when the last task was for each customer accounts. I'm finding this difficult with Email Messages because the record is not editable.

Additionally, Salesforce doesn't seem to be consistently creating the record as a Task AND/OR a Email Message. Sometimes it's only created an email message, which is problematic for the reportign issue I mentioned. Also, Email Messages aren't supported in reports, which feels like an enormous functionality gap. I would turn enhanced email off, but it doesn't look like the extension works without that.

Is anyone out here an Enhanced Email and SFDC Gmail Extension expert? A little frustrated with this tool that is supposed to make things easier.
