Since my department doesn't get a lot of applications, is there a way to set up an alert via email that tells me when an application is started for my department?

Unfortunately, I do not see any of what you’re describing. I see Recruitment Manager in the top right, then a link for SET UP, but nothing about object manager. I suspect I am in a specific part of Salesforce called TargetX? Does that help?
