
We provide reports to customers and would like to track each email sent out in Salesforce. When sending out an email, can I merge the specific email to the appropriate custom object in SF? That way, when looking back at the custom object (customer report) records, I can quickly and easily see the associated email that was distributed to the customer?
I believe I will need to add in the appropriate custom object to Outlook first. Then secondly, merge the email with the appropriate custom object.

Please feel free to vote up the idea 'Display Custom Objects in Salesforce for Outlook Side Panel' (https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000ksl1AAA). It seems that you can link email to custom objects in the side panel, but you would need to perform a search for a custom record object.
