stage sales process

Question

We are currently evaluating lightning and, as will everyone, will have to move to it at some point. In our org we have restricted access to changing opportunity stages, that is the only stages that are available to the users via the pick list are qualification and cancelled, all other stages are set by an approval process on approval.

When looking at an opportunity in lightning it shows the stages in a path at the top of the record with an option to mark the stage as complete.

Is there any way to remove this from the page layout as it's a bit confusing to our users seeing as we have more stages than the ones they have access to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've figured it out!  Turns out there is a special Lightning page layout found in set up and you can remove the standard path component from the layout.
