Hi all,

I have recently undertaken a mass tidying up of our SF Account and Opp data via Dataloader.  The Account fields amended were Account Owner, and the Opp fields were Owner, Manager, close date, live date, stage, and budget.

Exports were taken & sent to sales teams mid-month for updating, and then I re-imported by using "updating existing records" at the end of the month.  After having re-uploaded, one (and only one) of our teams flagged that their Account Managers can't see tasks previously assigned to their Accounts.

I read that amending Account Owner may automatically re-assign opps & tasks to the new Account Owner and have checked this, but these tasks are not allocated to the new owner either.  New opp owners that have been assigned are the same AMs that cannot see the tasks, so the tasks don't seem to have migrated.

How could these tasks have been overwritten/deleted due to a data re-import that did not contain any task-specific fields?

My thoughts are that either:

1) the meetings never existed- highly unlikely given output is a performance measure for our sales team.

2) meetings logged between the mid-month extract time and the end-month re-import time have been lost somehow.

3) something automatically updating behind the scenes

Help on this would be great!

Updating the Opp shouldn't delete related records (unless you have customization that does this). The odds are good that while updating ownership, the related records became hidden from certain users. Since Activities are made visible by their parent, when you changed the owner of the Parent, it could have trickled down to the Activities below. If you are an Admin, you can do a data export of all the activities and search for the Opp ID on the WhatID for the Activities to see if they are there. Also, you can search the Recycling bin for some deleted records.
