I've found an exam question somewhere:
Canvas can -> Embed a Salesforce page in an external application
Canvas cannot -> Limit who has access to a canvas application using permission sets
In which way is this the real thing?, making some google (quick) shows the opposite.

Using Permission set we dont limit but provide acccess
