I wanted to create a workflow that would update a custom field to populate “meeting” every time a new event was created. We only use “events” to represent meetings and it would be beneficial to have all events only represented as meetings. 

 

The workflow is not working and I do not know how to have it retroactively update these fields either…

    I think you are overkilling it. Just go to the event record type if you don't have one create one and assign the default value for every record to Type = Meeting. Remove all the other options from picklist as well.

     

    This should be sufficient.
